Tanah Pottery Studio, designed by Blancostudio, embodies the handcrafted nature of its ceramic tableware. Named after the Indonesian word for “earth,” the studio’s design emphasizes natural materials. Rammed earth walls, infused with crushed terracotta, give the structure a soft pinkish hue, while limestone floors and ceilings complement the tones of the walls. Merbau wooden beams are exposed, adding structural support and warmth to the roof. Inside, the minimalist layout highlights the studio’s handmade ceramics, seating areas, and a zen garden that enhances the tranquil atmosphere. The design and material choices capture the essence of Tanah Pottery’s artisanal, fully handmade stoneware.

“Tanah” means “earth” in Indonesian, and to tell their story, the shop was built entirely from earth. The walls are made of rammed earth mixed with leftover crushed terracotta tiles, giving them a pinkish hue and unique texture.

The floors and ceiling are made from limestone mixed with iron oxide to match the walls’ hue. Solid exposed Merbau wooden beams support the roof. The interior features a minimalist design, showcasing the latest ceramic collection, seating areas, and a zen garden.
