The Symbiosis Pavilion by Yuan Architects at Zhuqi Station links the past and future of the forest railway with its triangular bamboo structure. Combining bamboo’s natural elegance with industrial geometry, it reflects both local culture and sustainable design. With a bamboo-tiled hyperboloid roof, Symbiosis embodies eco-friendly principles in harmony with nature.
Located at the junction where the forest railway meets and splits at Zhuqi Station, Symbiosis stands on a triangular base that symbolizes and reflects the past and future of Zhuqi’s forest railway.
Employing traditional bamboo to create digital geometric forms, the design captures the graceful, natural contours of bamboo forests alongside the structured path of industrial railways. These combined elements shape a rhythmic, tensile spatial structure that reflects the local culture.
Blending metallic rigidity with bamboo-like flexibility, the structure is topped by a hyperboloid roof covered in bamboo tiles. This combination, along with refined architectural details, creates a sustainable and eco-friendly bamboo building.
Acting as a bridge between the past and future of the forest railway, Symbiosis envisions a future grounded in circular sustainability, fostering harmony with nature.
