SU House, designed by Alexander Brenner Architekten in Stuttgart, is a meticulously detailed villa created for an art lover and her family. The 640 m² villa, completed in 2012, features interconnected living spaces, art presentation areas, and extensive use of natural light, blending indoor and outdoor spaces seamlessly.
Located on a plot in a villa quarter at the edge of a forest in southern Stuttgart, SU House was meticulously designed by Alexander Brenner Architects for an art lover and her family.
From the entrance piazza, a silvery garage structure leads past the upper garden with a lake and a “morning patio” with pebble stone flooring to the north-side entrance.
Inside, the entrance hall leads to a large dining table placed below a two-storey void, lit by a skylight. The removable floor-to-ceiling glazing opens at a right angle to the terrace, merging the interior with the roofed exterior during summer. The kitchen, designed as an eat-in space, can function as a closed room or as part of the larger area, thanks to a wide sliding door.
A broad fireplace directs t the living area, planned as a secure and intimate space. A full-width skylight at the back illuminates the wall displaying paintings and sculptures. From the southern office and workspace, a narrow sculptural staircase leads down to the studios. This two-storey, almost sacral area is designed to present art, reflecting the client’s passion. A storeroom for artwork is attached next to the studio. The garden level mostly consists of the pool and spa area.
The sauna and steam bath area, introverted and adorned with warm res and gold tones, contrasts with the indoor swimming pool, which opens with floor-to-ceiling glazing towards the lower southwest part of the garden.
The upper storey arranges all bedrooms and corresponding bathrooms around the gallery. The master bedroom, with a fireplace, dressing room, and bathroom, forms an interconnected “private area.” The covered roof terrace in front of the bedroom offers a panoramic view to the southwest, with an even more breathtaking view from the overlying roof terrace.
