It is a place where ancient meets modern, and many of the rooms are dramatically set into the former barracks which makes each space a different experience, while others, more modern, enjoy spectacular views to the sea or over the huge internal patio spaces.
Aware of the vital importance of the Citadel as a touristic landmark, this luxurious new Pousada will add to the cultural value of Cascais, not only in terms of restoration of a historic building, but also by the opening of new markets to the region.
The striking new Pousada is the daring creation of architects Gonçalo Byrne, Joao Gois and David Sinclair, whom are committed to the goal of preserving and respecting the environmental sustainability, heritage value of the site and natural beauty of the surroundings. The Pousada has 108 rooms and 18 suites.
