The Rammed Earth Yoga Studio at the Newt Hotel in Somerset, designed by Invisible Studio, complements the adjacent Gym and Beezantium. While the Gym offers a garden view, the Yoga Studio features an 11-meter roof light open to the sky. The warm, sanctuary-like space is lined with beech slats. It was built after informal yoga sessions in the Beezantium prompted the need for a dedicated studio. Made from local rammed limestone with copper detailing, the studio harmonizes with the hotel’s other structures.

The Gym features a large window with a single view of the vegetable garden, while the Yoga Studio offers a single view of the sky through its expansive 11-meter roof light, made from a single insulated double-glazed unit. The interior of the Yoga Studio is fully lined with beech slats, creating a warm and immersive sanctuary-like atmosphere.

The need for the Yoga Studio arose from holding informal, impromptu yoga sessions in the Beezantium while the hotel awaited its exhibition fit-out. In response, the hotel requested a similar top-lit space, but situated behind the Gym.

The Yoga Studio is built using the same rammed stone as the Gym, crafted from local limestone that gives it its distinctive red color. Copper detailing, similar to that used in the Beezantium, ties the studio into the material palette of the surrounding structures.
