The Petraia house, a residential project by ARGDL, blends traditional and modern elements by reinterpreting vernacular architecture with stone and wood. Two double-height structures connected by a glass corridor form the main layout. The day section includes a mezzanine for resting and social spaces on the ground floor. The night section contains a TV room, bedroom, and full bathroom, with the master bedroom and its bathroom located on the second level. Local stone, regional pine, and glass materials create transparency with the landscape, minimizing environmental impact and integrating the cabin with nature.

Situated near the town of Tapalpa, this project reinterprets vernacular architecture using stone and wood.

It features two double-height structures connected by a glass corridor, combining traditional and modern elements.

The spatial arrangement includes a day section with a mezzanine for rest and ground-floor social spaces. These interconnected areas form a central axis that includes a kitchen, dining, and living room, with bathroom and service modules situated in a more enclosed section.

The night section contains a TV room connected visually to a patio, allowing soft light to fill the interior. It also houses a bedroom and a full bathroom, providing a comfortable nighttime environment.

On the second level, the master bedroom and personal bathroom are designed as the most intimate space in the house, maintaining user privacy while offering a secluded retreat.

The materials used are local stone for the main volumes, regional pine for roofs and frames, and glass to enhance transparency with the surrounding landscape. This material selection aims to minimize environmental impact and integrate the cabin seamlessly with nature.
