Mini House Bac Cau, designed by vn-a, is a unique residence in Ngọc Thụy, Vietnam, completed in 2020. This 78.5 m² house integrates seamlessly with its natural surroundings, utilizing transparency and a sliding wall system for optimal air circulation. The design allows the house to blend into the landscape, with the existing flora acting as its outer skin. Layers of overlapping rooms create a symbiotic relationship with the old trees on the property, enhancing the connection between the built environment and nature.
The mini-house in Bac Cau is intended as a stopover, merging filigree construction with the existing flora. The house’s transparency allows it to blend into the river quay, disappearing into the time-space of its environment. Plants serve as the house’s outer skin, and the river wind, combined with a free sliding wall system, ensures optimal air circulation.
The design intertwines the house with the property’s old trees through layers of overlapping rooms of varying depths. This approach creates a symbiotic relationship between the structure and nature, enhancing the connection between the built environment and the natural surroundings.
The Mini House Bac Cau’s design emphasizes transparency and integration with nature, providing a serene living space that harmonizes with its environment. The use of plants as the outer skin and the sliding wall system allows for a seamless blend with the surrounding flora, creating an optimal living environment with constant air circulation. The design team’s innovative approach results in a unique and sustainable residence that showcases the potential of modern architecture to coexist with nature.
