K House, designed by Ronnie Alroy Architects, showcases the versatility of concrete, with light and greenery enhancing the depth of its walls. The entrance axis, defined by exposed concrete walls and beams, features a skylight that illuminates the space down to the basement. The house is divided into a hosting wing and an owner’s wing, with the master bedroom on the second floor offering views of treetops and sloped terrain. Exterior courtyards blend interior and exterior spaces, incorporating niches, plant-filled double walls, and green terraces. The concrete is complemented by Douglas fir wood, creating a balance of transparency and solidity.

K House celebrates the plasticity of concrete, with light and greenery accentuating the depth of its concrete walls. The entrance is defined by two exposed concrete walls that span three levels, culminating in a view of a terraced garden. This main axis is accompanied by a rhythm of exposed concrete beams that extend from outside the entrance to the opposite garden.

A skylight hidden between two concrete beams transforms the axis into an avenue of light, reaching the basement through a glazed opening in the floor. This glazed opening connects the entrance floor with the open space in the basement.

The main axis divides the house into two wings: a hosting wing with guest living units and the owner’s wing containing public spaces and the master bedroom. The master bedroom on the second floor offers two contrasting views—one of the treetops from a terrace and another of a sloped terrain leading to a wild garden that connects to the entrance level.

The house features exterior courtyards that blend interior and exterior spaces. These courtyards celebrate concrete’s versatility with deep niches, double walls with plants, and sloping green terraces. The concrete is softened by Douglas fir wood floors and cabinetry. The house’s overall experience is constructed through an interplay of transparency and solidity, depth and airiness.
