Jiyeh Villa, a residential project designed by Accent Design Group in Jiyeh, Lebanon, skillfully integrates four distinct volumes that harmonize with the sloping terrain. Completed in 2014, the villa’s design features cantilevered platforms and private courtyards that blend interior and exterior spaces while offering expansive sea views. Transparent façades maximize coastal visibility, while perforated side walls balance privacy and ventilation, drawing inspiration from traditional architecture suited to hot climates. The project successfully connects modern design elements with the natural environment.
Jiyeh Villa, positioned in the coastal town of Jiyeh, south of Beirut, is defined by an arrangement of four distinct volumes layered to create a rhythmic architectural composition. These volumes strategically interweave with the landscape, inviting the natural surroundings into the residence and forming secluded courtyards. Although each volume serves a separate function, their collective arrangement smoothly transitions between the villa’s public and private areas.
The sloping topography of the site enabled the incorporation of cantilevered platforms extending over rectangular forms. The landscape was carefully reshaped to embrace the villa, offering privacy from nearby properties while providing seamless access to the cantilevered terrace. This terrace echoes the terrain below, integrating the built environment with the natural landscape.
A thick yet porous U-shaped wall wraps around the site, framing views toward the sea. The seafront façade is fully transparent, maximizing exposure to the coastal scenery, while the side façades feature perforations that offer selective glimpses of the exterior. These perforations reflect traditional architectural approaches for hot climates, delivering ventilation and controlled light while maintaining privacy.
