Indochina Villa Saigon, designed by MIA Design Studio in District 9, Ho Chi Minh City, is a luxurious residential project completed in 2014. The redesign aimed to enhance spatial flow between interior and exterior areas by integrating bi-folding doors, lush terraces, and shading elements like pergolas. The project combines a natural material palette and a modern aesthetic, creating a seamless connection to the surrounding tropical landscape while elevating comfort and elegance.

MIA Design Studio was commissioned to reimagine the mock-up house for Indochina Villas Saigon, a luxury residential community comprising 114 villas across eight hectares in District 9, Ho Chi Minh City. The primary goal of the redesign was to harmonize the villa’s architecture with its tropical surroundings and create a seamless indoor-outdoor living experience.

A key element of the project was to blur the boundaries between interior and exterior spaces. The architects achieved this by replacing the original windows with large bi-folding doors, which expanded the usable space and enhanced the connection to the terraces and balconies. These outdoor spaces, rich with lush greenery, became focal points of the design. Pergolas were introduced to provide shading, mitigating the tropical heat, while steel and wood louvers added a modern, textured look to the façade, giving it a distinctive identity.

On the ground floor, the villa features a garage, a spacious open-plan living and dining area, and a fully equipped kitchen. A sculpted staircase set within a niche leads to the upper levels. The second floor houses two bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom and a terrace surrounded by tropical plants. The top floor contains two more bedrooms, sharing a bathroom, with additional terraces that continue the seamless integration with the natural environment.

The design uses a simple, earthy color palette and natural materials like wood and stone, creating a calm and sophisticated atmosphere. The surrounding tropical landscape plays an important role in the overall design, with its vibrant green hues providing a natural contrast that emphasizes the connection between the villa and its environment.
