ENNEA hotel, designed by Jaque Studio in Puerto Escondido, Mexico, is a nine-room retreat completed in 2023. positioned two blocks from Punta Zicatela beach and adjacent to a nature reserve, ENNA integrates seamlessly with its environment, offering peace and relaxation through its thoughtful architectural design and expansive Pacific Ocean views.
ENNEA is shaped by its physical and climatic conditions. Located near Punta Zicatela beach in Oaxaca, this nine-room hotel sits elevated relative to the sea and adjacent to a nature reserve. These factors, combined with the architectural design, create a tranquil atmosphere, inviting disconnection from daily life while being surrounded by the region’s vegetation and expansive Pacific Ocean views.
The architectural design comprises three main volumes situated at the property’s edge facing the city to create a microclimate within the hotel, opening towards the nature reserve landscape. The reception area, a double-height space with bridges and staircases, serves as a welcoming temple, gradually transitioning guests from the street to the gardens, restaurant, and rooms.
The grand palapa, located on a second level parallel to Punta Zicatela beach, features exposed concrete columns for cross ventilation and views of the central garden, pool, reserve, and sea. Below the restaurant, service and administration areas are strategically placed.
The third volume, a rectangular prism, has an open social ground floor and two upper levels of rooms connected by a large helicoidal reinforced concrete staircase. the ground floor extends the gardens and pool area, providing shaded relief from midday heat without air conditioning. this volume aligns parallel to the reserve and perpendicular to the coast, preserving bay views and offering reserve and sea views from all rooms.
Facing a large garden, the hotel buildings include two “tree house” style rooms, a bar area, a massage pavilion, and the main pool. The material palette mimics regional textures, colors, and materials using exposed finishes, woods, stones, and local fabrics.
ENNEA serves as an oasis within Puerto Escondido, harmoniously blending with the growing coastal city.
