Aesop’s Hamburg store, designed by Vincent Van Duysen Architects in collaboration with PSLab, is situated in a historically protected building in Hamburg, Germany. Completed in 2014, the 112m² space utilizes simple, natural materials and a muted color palette to reflect the elegant yet vibrant character of the neighborhood. The interior design features stripped-back walls and ceilings with a textured plaster finish, embodying a refined simplicity. A central bluestone sink serves as a sculptural focal point, and the store’s ambiance is further enhanced by custom pendant lamps and oak and steel display shelves that complement the original cast-iron facade.

The 112 m² space has walls and ceilings stripped back to their original state and clad in pale, roughly textured plaster. Directional metal halide downlights provide suitable illumination gradients for retail displays.

Two pendant lamps, designed by Vincent Van Duysen and developed by PSLAB, are positioned above the counters, offering flexible and warn ambient light. The fixtures echo the display shelves crafted from untreated European oak and blackened steel, referencing the store’s original cast-iron facade.
