Tree Hotel by Tham & Videgard Arkitekter

The concept is to create a shelter up in the trees, a light-weight aluminium structure hung around a tree trunk, a 4×4x4m box clad in mirrored glass. The exterior reflects the surroundings and the sky, creating a camouflaged refuge.

schmidt hammer lassen architects has won the competition to design the new masterplan and extension of Kolding Hospital in Denmark. The 32,000 m2 extension with a bed ward, an emergency ward and a new main entrance has been designed together with NIRAS, CREO, Balslev and GBL.

A visit to the Madinat al Zahra archaeological site and the allotment reserved for the museum and offices arouses contradictory emotions. On the one hand, nostalgia for a remote, undiscovered past impregnates the landscape stretching towards the Cordoba Hills, while on the other hand, disorderly sprawl of modern buildings creeps disturbingly around the area that was once a palace-city.

Dundee V&A museum designs unveiled

Six designs for the V&A Museum planned for Dundee’s waterfront will be unveiled at an exhibition in the city.
The architects were shortlisted in May and asked to submit their designs for the building, due to be opened in 2014 as a centre of 21st Century design.
