2009 RIBA Award Winners Announced
The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) recently announced the winners of the 2009 RIBA Awards. RIBA Awards for architectural excellence have been presented across the country with 103 buildings in the UK and Europe winning awards (97 in the UK and six in the rest of the EU).

Samoo Architecture PC co-Designs Winning Project, Taekwondo ‘One’, Design-Build Competition
Samoo Architecture PC, with the project lead Samsung C & T Corporation and Samoo Architects & Engineers in Seoul, Korea, have been awarded first prize and the building/construction commission for the new Taekwondo Park World Headquarters in Muju, Korea.

UNStudio’s design selected for new hotel tower in Frankfurt
Yesterday, UNStudio was selected in the competition for a 110 meter tall hotel tower.
From the six projects presented, the jury, chaired by Prof. Johann Eisele, chose the designs by UNStudio – Ben van Berkel (Amsterdam), and Kohn, Pedersen, Fox (New York) and recommended proceeding with the UNStudio design for further development.

Libeskind Wins $20B Seoul Master Plan Competition
Studio Daniel Libeskind has been named winner of the master plan competition for the Yongsan International Business District of Seoul, South Korea. The new large-scale district features a cluster of residential, office and retail neighborhoods in an extensive urban park along the Han River.

Best Landscape Architecture Projects Received ASLA 2009 Professional Awards
The American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) has announced the winners of its 2009 Professional Awards. The jury considered nearly 600 entries—the largest number in ASLA history—from around the world and selected 49 projects for recognition in general design, residential design, analysis and planning, communications and research. The awards ceremony will take place at the ASLA Annual Meeting in Chicago on September 21.
