“The task is to establish the new Ministry in a series of old and protected buildings at Akershus Fortress in central Oslo. New solid blocks fills in the historical pattern, while a more fluent and transparent building links up new and old building blocks in close relation to the historical traces in the landscape.”

What beautiful buildings! It surely IS possible to blend modern architecture with classic old style buildings. I wish more countries would try to be sensitive to this issue. I, for one, think the glass pyramid in Paris is beautiful by itself but it sticks out like a sore thumb in its present location at the Louvre. More sensitivity would have been appreciated there – perhaps the French can learn something from Norway.
