” The Falcon residence is a hillside residence located in South Mission Hills. The residence is 1745 square feet in size with kitchen, dining and living combined in one space.
Sited overlooking Raynard Hills, the house was designed to have an urban industrial loft-like feeling. The living space with its expansive glass walls offers views of both Bankers Hill and Downtown San Diego. Use of materials includes cast-in-place concrete, cedar cladding and steel.”

This is of the nicest houses I have seen in my 71 years. It is the interplay of the light as it glistens off the thoughful surfaces of the materiality of PUBLIC’s mind that warms my heart…
Thank you for your wonderful comment on my project, the Falcon residence. I was the owner, developer and the builder of the project. Public Architecture and Planning (“Public”) who are good friends of mine designed the house, but also gave me the freedom to choose all of the materials for the interior and exterior of the house. It was a great and successful collaboration. The story behind the project is very interesting, which not only consists of the unique collaboration, but also setting up a temporary shop in the garage during construction and employing studio furniture makers from a local university to build the project. I’ve read and enjoyed your magazine for many years. Maybe you would be interested in hearing more about the project and possibly doing an article on it.
